Inspired by the clear, starry night sky, Félix Solís wanted to create a wine that would capture the pleasure-loving, life-affirming spirit of the Spanish people. He named it Albali after a star in the constellation of Aquarius.
Valdepeñas takes its name from the ancient city by the same name, that lies on a sun-baked river valley dotted by small rocky formations (Val-de-peñas - Valley of Rocks). Located in the South of Castilla-La Mancha in central Spain. The area is almost entirely encircled by both La Mancha Denominación de Origen on the North border and Andalusia on its Southern limits. It experiences extreme weather conditions, with temperatures reaching up to over 40 ºC in the summer and dropping to as low as -10 ºC in the winter. The future of this Denominación de Origen lays with its red wines made from Tempranillo; a grape variety that enjoys the ability to age well as crianza, reserva and gran reserva.
Deep garnet in colour, this wine has intense aromas and rich fuit flavours with notes of herbs and black pepper. On the finish are ripe tannins along with subtle touches of vanilla and toast provided with ageing in barrel.
Grilled meats and game, pasta with strong sauces, spicy foods, stews, hard cheeses.
We recommend decanting before serving between 16-17° C
Grapes are carefully selected and gently crushed. The juice and berries are transferred to temperature controlled tanks for fermentation, where colour and flavour from the grapes is gently extracted through pumping the released juice back over the grapes. Wine aging period takes place in American oak barrels for at least 12 months, followed by in bottled maturation. The full aging cycle usually lasts 3-4 years.
