The winery of Félix Solís, S.A. in the town of La Puebla de Almoradiel, Toledo, forms part of DO La Mancha, a quality wine region comprised of various microclimates and areas over a total of four provinces.
La Puebla de Almoradiel lies is in the area called Mancha Toledana, which is located in the centre of DO La Mancha along with other important towns such as Quintanar de la Orden, Villacañas and Alcázar de San Juan.
It is situated nearly 700 metres above sea-level which, combined with the typical continental climate of the region and its low rainfall, makes this area ideal for growing vines. Traditionally speaking, cultivation has always been centred on the local white variety called Airen although the last few years have seen a marked increase in Tempranillo and the “improving varieties” of Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Likewise, “Tinto del Pámpano Blanco” is exclusively cultivated in the area of La Puebla, a variety which was officially recognised a few years ago.
La Puebla de Almoradiel, with its 7,200 inhabitants, enjoys a strategic location as it lies in an area where various provinces converge: twenty kilometres from the demarcation of Cuenca, fifteen kilometres from Ciudad Real and twenty kilometres from the province of Albacete.
